URGENT ACTION ALERT: LIFER Meeting

Their agenda is clear. DESTROY PUBLIC SECTOR UNIONS. At this meeting Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick is introducing a bill, A8603 as a Mandate Relief Bill. This bill repeals Triborough, would limit binding arbitration to 2%, along with ending defined benefit pensions. We CANNOT allow this bill to get any traction. We need to fill this room with our members, our voices. We need as many pro-union and pro-public education people asking our questions. We need to derail this immediately. If they are successful we would lose the right to be fully covered by our Collective Bargaining Agreement once it is expired. Specifically, they are trying to take away our right to continue receiving Step and Increment raises once a Contract expires. If passed, this will enable school districts to impose "Hard Freezes" on their employees.
